..i just found this pictures of the window i did for the Sketchbook magazine pop-up shop. I constructed the human size letters out of recycled walkers boxes and abnormal amounts of UHU.. (how i love uhu, swoon).

I was sad to see the tree go, we grew rather close after i spent long nights under the stars (really) cutting and glueing paper cut leaves to its bare bones.

ANYWAY i just thought i'd post them up..RIP tree !!

IF I WAS A BOY

....i would dress like this!

I think it's pretty evident i was wronged by the universe when it comes to gender. i live my mundane girl life pretty contently in my opinion, until i stumble across images of clothes like these (gaze over to the left for a second, i know it's hard but try not to drool over your keyboard..eurgh) and get the warmest feeling in my belly which feels like hunger (but isn't, it's joy) this feeling lasts a few seconds until i suddenly remember  that I'm cursed with a minimum amount of testosterone (it shocks me every time).

like that's not bad enough i then have to see men (who clearly don't know how lucky they are) swanning around in the most hideous attire!!?!

It's killing me ever so slowly on the inside, i conclude this will be my exact reason of death!

Death by gender, no, death by shock of gender?

I'm amazed by the layering up of all those tones of grey..winter needs to hurry its self up and be super cold!

I don't want to say anymore, especially on the topic of the deck shoes..i just might cry!

(image was not taken by myself)

AHOY

So, finally (as promised) here are some images of the Sketchbook Pop up shop window, that i was commissioned to create back in April.

To be frank i was totally freaked out by the total creative reign i'd been given by the editor on this window, i was so terribly excited by all the different directions this window could go in. So excited in fact that my mind refused to settle on one idea.

It was around this time when the sun crept out from behind the clouds and trees started to look like they'd gained a few pounds, i decided to pay homage to this fact, so,salvaged a fallen branch, rescued some coloured notebooks from under my bed and got cutting.

A while ago i used this same concept but with photocopied £5 notes, cutting them into leaf shapes and attaching to a skeletal tree (i later became aware of the fact that this was apparently 'illegal'... and my new photocopier refused to copy any from of paper currency! )

You should also know i find making  3D objects out of card hugely therapeutic (sad yet true)! So i pieced together some 3D lettering to accompany the newly obese tree :)

Serene and the technicolor cardigan

Thankyou to Jen of  thestylecrusader.blogspot.com/
for such awesomely kind words.

(how awkward do i look haha, i can't say i enjoy having my picture taken)

Staring at the tele gives you square eyes...literally!?!

Crikeys, i've ben neglecting my blog of late!

Thing's have been keeping me super busy these last few weeks!

So, Sketchbook Pop-up shop had their shop launch on the eve of the 30th, which i attended (just), after spending the day wrestling with the window display i'd been commissioned to knock up for them (more on this later with visual treats)!

Many a lovely person came to consume monster amounts of wine and cup cakes courtesy of Sweetcheeks which looked faar to good to eat (although i had 3 :/ )

THe fashion and illustration world turned up in lovely sizes, all supporting super slick hair jobs whilst towering above me in shoes i'd just be happy enough to stare at and draw.
After only just securing the last piece to the window display, did the first gang of guests arrive, giving me only enough time to scrape myself off the floor,
this best explains in advance why i looked like a scrappy pre-pubescent boy...well more so than usual :( !
( to be continued...)

Look above and you'll see some images of my 'up-cycled' televisions (from 'Doobie dreams' series) they have been transformed to functions as lamps/light boxes which have bulbs fitted inside the gutted tv!
(i'd love to know what you think)
